Watching for the first time: Dawson's Creek

So, when I thought of watching one or two episodes of several TV shows yesterday, guess which one stood out the most? Dawson's Creek!

I can't believe how good this is!

Where was I when this show was on TV? Oh, wait...yes, I was taking care of a baby!

So, it had been that long!?

That was Katie Holmes? She was adorable in that program...what happened to her?

I've decided to watch its first season today. Not sure if I can finish all of it, but I'll take what I can.

Any fans of this show out there? What did you love about this series?

30 August 2008

The last weekend till everything else gets crazy...

You know what I'm doing today until Sunday evening? I'm watching as much as I can. It's my weekend of free-for-all.

I've chosen to catch up on Alias and then I'm finally checking out Dawson's Creek (which I have not seen before. I know, so late!).

I've just finished three episodes of How Not to Live Your Life (odd British series, I can't say if I liked or disliked it, the lead character is a turd!)

I'm also catching up on Spooks (MI 5), checking out Everwood and Jack and Bobby, while taking a night cap with Friends.

I'm not watching every episode on these shows. That will take me the rest of the year to finish. I'm picking only one or two episodes each. And since that is the case, can you suggest a show I should check out? It's a free-for-all weekend after all.

I don't know why I've chosen to do this the weekend before Fall season kicks in (which by the way, already started when I saw Greek's latest episode for season 2 the other day --- It wasn't monumental but I'm happy it's back.) Perhaps it's my way of preparing for hopefully a good season ahead.

Got everything set up and ready to go after dinner. Whee!

What are you doing this weekend?

Jennifer Aniston to Guest Star on 30Rock

Wheee! She's coming back to NBC's Thursday block...even for one night only!

Jennifer Aniston is guest starring on Tina Fey's 30 Rock. Last year, David Schwimmer was also a guest on this show, playing the eco-mascot Greenzo (Watch the Video).

The actress is said to be already filming her scenes.

30 Rock is the last show to premiere this fall, coming back to TV on October 30th.

David Duchovny admits he is a sex addict

Is this some sort of publicity for Californication? Or is this really happening?

David Duchovny, who stars as an oversexed womanizer in this TV series (where he plays his part so effectively in my opinion), is now in rehab. Just minutes ago, his lawyer has released this statement to the press...
"I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction. I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family." | Reuters
Duchovny is married to actress Tea Leoni and they have two children together.

Californication is returning on the TV calendar Sept 28th.

So what do you think this is?

TV Round Up: Chuck Season 2, Addison on Grey, Melrose Place, 90210, Veronica Mars and more...

It's time for another round-up!

Kristin Bell (Veronica Mars) is lending her voice to the Astro Boy movie.

Does David Blaine have a death wish? Is he trying to kill himself?

A Melrose Place reunion, if only for one night.

Kelly Taylor's baby daddy is Dylan McKay? But baby daddy is still firm in his decision he isn't going to appear in the new series.

More TV appearances for Michael Phelps: VMA awards and Entourage (video).

Meet the cast of Survivor Gabon.

Chuck gets a full 22-episode Season 2 order. And the show hasn't even started yet! He's also going to get some. Good one, Chuck!

Addison's back, yet again, on Grey's Anatomy?

Here's a complete summary to those upcoming shows this fall, if you wanna know.

Michael Phelps: First interview on Leno; hosting SNL

The man of the hour...the man who can swim faster than a dolphin or any of these top 10 fastest fishy-fishies is hosting the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.

Michael Phelps demonstrated his brilliance to the world and became an instant Olympic celebrity at the swimming meets. You cannot have a conversation about the Olympics last week without mentioning Michael Phelps.

And because he's such a hot property right now, everyone's seeing $$$. People swarming around the swimming star are rumored to be trying to get him a book deal, a TV series, or maybe even a movie deal.

And I thought these things only happen in my country!

Now that Michael is back stateside, people are waiting to hear which talk show is going to nab him first. Even Oprah wants a piece of him.

But, it seems NBC is getting all of him before anyone else. Phelps is going to Leno first (airing Sept 8th). And then on Sept 13th he's hosting Saturday Night Live, which technically tests whether he can wow us with skills other than his swimming prowess.

Speaking of Saturday Night Live, have you met their newest member, Bobby Moynihan? Also, watch for Amy Poehler's replacement this season (still unnamed). She is leaving the show since she's going to have her own series soon.

Did you get all that?

27 August 2008

My TV is officially back!

And what this means is... it would be harder for anyone to pry me away from the screen! It also means more eyesore. It also means less sleep. It also means --- I'm really, really, really happy!!!

Australian Idol's sixth season just premiered. Although I can't watch the first three episodes until my husband returns from an OT trip next week. Bleh.

I will, instead, watch new episodes of Greek later.

Early next week, The Shield premieres its last season. But again, can't watch it till the hubs is back. So, in place of that, I will check out the first episode of 90210 and see if it's worth keeping on my list.

I'll also check out Samurai Girl because I love women who can handle swords; and Sons of Anarchy because I love how crazy the word "anarchy" sounds. I can sense this show is going to be butch. (Haven't read any synopsis or what).

For the rest of the schedule this fall season, look up my blog since I've provided a link to the calendar. Or click this.

Fall Season is ON!

Nathan Fillion's Castle

"Serenity" - Arrivals
Whoo! Nathan Fillion is back on TV. Last year, his series, Drive, didn't even survive six airings when it was yanked off the air. He was also on Desperate Housewives last season, but I don't watch that show and didn't even watch it for him. But I'm glad he's back and so much in a better position since --- he's back with his own really interesting show.

Nathan Fillion will star in Castle on ABC. It should be airing next year.
“Castle” is described in the press notes as a comedic crime procedural about a famous mystery novelist, Nick Castle, who has gotten bored with his success. When a real-world copycat murderer starts staging scenes from Nick’s novels, he’s teamed with a female detective, and soon the sparks are flying. Castle is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, quick-witted teenage daughter, and his long-suffering ex-wife, who happens to be his editor. It stars Nathan Fillion as Castle, Stana Katic as Det. Kate Beckett, Molly Quinn as Alexis, Susan Sullivan as Martha, Monet Mazur as Gina and Ruben Santiago-Hudson. | LA TIMES
Along with Castle, ABC also has four other new series in line:
  • the remake of Rob Thomas' Cupid, a love story/comedy
  • The Unusuals, which is a comedy set in a police district
  • Better Off Ted, described as a satirical comedy (The Office?)
  • Single With Parents, starring Alyssa Milano
Let's hope these survive the cut and last longer than one season!

Catch up on Brothers and Sisters!

This Brothers and Sisters family portrait isn't your regular portrait when it has the second family in there. But I love it and I love this show.

When season 2 ended, we didn't know how the family was going to take the news between Justin and Becca, who turned from brother and sister to boyfriend and girlfriend (coz Becca is not a Walker apparently). Awkward moments?

This preview below is from the upcoming third season. Looks like Becca's still with the family... and that is great news:

And the following is Brothers and Sisters' starter kit. Get caught up with this show in less than five minutes, with Becca telling the story from the beginning:

Looove Pushing Daisies!

I seldom post any Pushing Daisies TV item here because everything about it is covered on my other blog. But I couldn't help posting this entry now... the new promo photos for season 2 are gorgeous!

I.Love.It!

The show also has a "starter kit" from ABC. It's those 5 minute season recaps I posted earlier today for Eli Stone , Samantha Who and Private Practice. This is for Pushing Daisies:

American Idol gets a new Judge

So, does this mean American Idol is slowly phasing out Paula?

The big news on TV today is the addition of Kara DioGuardi on American Idol's judging panel. She is EVERYWHERE, rather, the news is EVERYWHERE. Is this a big deal?
"We are turning the heat up on 'Idol' this year and are thrilled to welcome Kara to the judges' table," creator/executive producer Simon Fuller said. "She is a smart, sassy lady, and one of America's most successful songwriters. We know she will bring a new level of energy and excitement to the show."

Added Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell: "For the past seven seasons, Paula has had to endure the experience of being the only woman at the judges' table. She's been as an island of consideration and gentle criticism between Randy and Simon, offering her invaluable expertise as a performer and No. 1 artist to the thousands who have competed on 'Idol.' With Kara by her side, Paula finally has some backup, and now there is going to be a lot more girl power on the show." | THR
Kara DioGuardi is a Grammy nominated composer who has worked with the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Carrie Underwood, Santana, and Pink. She has also worked with the likes of Paris Hilton.

From last season's crop of talents, she was partial to Brooke White but her idol favorite has always been Kelly Clarkson.

The addition of Kara is part of Idol's retooling of the show, which has been on the drawing board since the middle of last season.

Catch up on Samantha Who!

I have been missing the girls. Really! Samantha, Andrea and Deanna. And even Samantha's mom. I have been missing them. So very glad it's just a matter of weeks before they're back. And Sam's going to have lotsa men in her life this season... how exciting is that?

Get caught up with Samantha Who?'s first season in this video:

Catch up on Eli Stone!

If you haven't been watching Eli Stone, you're missing a few things: 1) Jonny Lee Miller, who is so wonderful an actor; 2) All the hallucinations leading to the cast singing and dancing. It's cheesy and it does remind you of how crazy Cage and Cage was during Ally McBeal's time but they do have some good talent in the cast...it's so entertaining; 3) The witty script and also, the insightful story lines...you don't find a lot of that on TV anymore; 4)Jonny Lee Miller...did I already mention that?

Season 1 was been narrowed down into this five minute video. Watch:

25 August 2008

Catch up on Private Practice!

I haven't had the chance to blog about Private Practice enough, have I? Season 2 is airing in a couple of weeks and we've got to do some catching up by starting with the summary from last season. It's been so long since the last episode aired. I think I have forgotten most of it. So this one should help:

For Season 2, the show has hired Grant Show to play Addison's brother.

I've previously written about Addison's new guy/old guy. But you know who else is heading in the same direction? According to E!, Cooper and Charlotte, you know the doctor in the hospital ER. Did they have something going on before? I think I missed that or forgot about that.

What else is happening in Season 2? This is from Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Private Practice ---

Dr. Addison Montgomery - "You actually start to see Addison have a personal life. Addison has never been happy: Derek was always like, 'Get away,' Sloan was just after one thing, and Karev was just this curmudgeon. Now there's some fun and romance for her."

Dr. Sam Bennett - "It seems as if we're going in a direction where you see the inner workings of Sam, which are not like his outside, where he seems calm, cool and collected. It's been really fun to play."

William "Dell" Parker - "I want to find a way to make his midwifery stories interesting and compelling."

Dr. Naomi Bennett - "The Sam-Naomi-Dell triangle fallout gets fairly interesting, complex, charming and funny."

Dr. Cooper Freedman - "I think it's ironic that Violet has been pushing Cooper to get serious about a woman, and when he does, she feels abandoned. He is starting to realize the deficiencies that he has. Where we start this season is that he takes a step toward Charlotte, and that pays dividends, but it also has bad effects with his friends."

Dr. Charlotte King: "Playing opposite this guy [points to Adelstein] this season is just a dream come true."

Dr. Violet Turner: "In her mind, she has lost Cooper, and she is still recovering from her relationship ending, so she is dealing with that."

Dr. Pete Wilder: "TV romances are like really good sex; you do everything you can before you finally consummate it," Daly said about the continuing will-they-or-won't-they tension between Addison and Pete.

TV Round Up: Breasts, Phelps, new movie, new guy and new blog

This was purposely missed last week because nothing interesting happened. Oh, TV. Now you bore me!

Moving along...

Christina Applegate is Cancer Free. She also had both her breasts removed.

Lawrence Fishburne is "the prof" on CSI. He replaces William Petersen who has announced he is leaving the show. Fishburne's character will be introduced in the 10th or 11th episode of the new season. He has admitted he has never watched CSI before this.

Who is up for a Veronica Mars movie?

David Archuleta beats David Cook at the Music Charts!

Michael Phelps comes to DVD.

Don't forget to watch the Olympics closing ceremony this Sunday. It should be as spectacular as the opening ceremony.

Izzie's got a new guy. Could be an old cast member. Someone like McSteamy.

And I've got a new TV blog. It's 3 days old and I'm getting kinda lonely over there with no one crawling up the site yet.

Tracking the missing Walker

Information about the 7th Walker on Brothers and Sisters are slowly coming out. There isn't an actor cast for the role yet. Ryan Walker's face is still a mystery. But E! Online has the scoop on his background.

Ryan Walker is an All American Golden Boy. Just like John-John Kennedy. He is also a "football player who sat in the front row of your 10th-grade English class." Smart. Well-read. Alpha Male. But he supposedly share something in common with Justin. The missing Walker is also into drugs; not taking it, not a dependent, more like selling them.

He's raised by a man he thinks is his biological father. That man is played by David Andrews (pictured). Ryan's mother is already dead. Kitty is the one who'll track him down in Bakersfield. His character is appearing around the 8th-9th episode of Season 3.

Who'd you want to play Ryan Walker?

Waah, the bitch is back!

And she wanna knows if you've missed her...

Not gonna be a show I'd anticipate week after week. But I've got a curious mind and sure...I will check out the first episode. If I get hooked though, then god bless my sanity.

Legend of the Seeker Trailer

Originally called Wizard's First Rule, this TV series is also an epic and it is also based on a novel: (Wizard's First Rule Sword of Truth, Book 1) much like the post before this (Crusoe).

Only unlike Crusoe, which NBC is gambling with a prime time slot, Legend of the Seeker will not be running as a regular series on the prime time block. Instead, ABC network is bringing it into syndication directly.

The film is produced by Sam Raimi, who might be more familiar to most people as the guy who gave us the Spider-man Trilogy and The Grudge.

Legend of the Seeker was filmed in lovely New Zealand.

Here, take a look:

Will Crusoe succeed on network TV?

Iam asking this question because Crusoe is a period piece. An epic. And those kinds usually air as specials or on cable, not as a regular series. Will it have a hard time gaining an audience?

Crusoe is an adaptation of Daniel Defoe's classic novel, Robinson Crusoe. You do remember this story in high school, don't you? Guy stuck in an undiscovered island for nearly 30 years?

Wikipedia calls it:
Equal parts MacGyver, Castaway and Pirates of the Caribbean, this series is an inspirational tale of survival rife with action and comedy.
The series looks spectacular though. And why wouldn't it? Seems budget was no concern for this. Crusoe was shot in the UK, South Africa and Seychelles.

The series premiere is October 17th.

Meet the new team players of Amazing Race 13!

The racers are out!

CBS has released the photos and identities of racers for The Amazing Race Season 13. They've got the usual mix of best friends, long distance couples, dating couples, frat brothers, divorcees....and hippy beekeepers!

The show will begin Sept the 28th.

I wonder what is up with Dollhouse?

Aside from Fringe, I've been waiting for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse with so much anticipation. There doesn't seem to be too many stories and updates going around about it. Except for that one time last month, when Joss Whedon announced he was rewriting the pilot episode --- why am I getting too much news on the 90210 (whose hype started around February I think) and barely nothing for Dollhouse (which will air in January)?

Anyway, here's a preview to Dollhouse:

DOLLHOUSE focuses on a secret organization that employs "Actives" -- a group of operatives who have their memories and personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with new ones, allowing them to take on various missions for hire.

Like it, like it?

Friends' Anatomy

When I first began watching Grey's Anatomy in 2005, I had read of reactions from fans of Friends saying how much it reminded them of their former favorite; that this show about doctors is the new Friends.

I guess one can chalk it up to missing Friends too much, but I really didn't see what they were talking about. Especially since, every new show debuting after 2004 was called the new Friends!

I forgot all about that until TV Filter brought it up again.
Meredith is Rachel. Whiny? Check. Self obsessed? Check. Highlighted to within an inch of her life? Oh, yeah. The next one’s easy too: competitive, perfectionistic Cristina is a dead ringer for Monica. Sweet, daffy, animal-loving Izzy (remember the deer?) is Phoebe sans guitar. McDreamy is sad-eyed but oh-so-condescending Ross with better hair. Dorky, formerly lovelorn George is Seattle Grace’s Chandler Bing. And then we come to Alex. Is he a perfect match for Joey Tribbiani? No. But he is a man slut who always, always gets stuck in the B plot line.
Four seasons of Grey's Anatomy later and those fans (and TV Filter) may have really been on to something. Why did I not see that before?

What does this say for characterization though? Can we really sum up TV people into 6 basic characters such as these:

What do you think?

17 August 2008

Maybe I'll like this better than Gossip Girl?

Some two or three years ago, a young 21-year old man and his 40-something dad pitched a TV idea for BBC network. It had a story that was quite different by any standards; a teen show with a real edge.

And as most teens only have a couple of things on their mind --- i.e. rebelling, getting into mischiefs, flirting, having sex, trying out drugs --- all these were to become the backbone to what would be a TV show called Skins.

Yes, it featured kids barely 18 years old doing everything their parents told them not to.

And it is a show that, as this critic had written down, made Gossip Girl look quaint.

Unlike Gossip Girl though, Skins is a comedy-drama series, which is my sole reason for wanting to check it out. You know how odd British humor can be (or humour...if I'm being British about it. Heh.)

The people behind this program are mostly made of cast members and writers none older than 22 years old. Young as they are, they obviously have very little experience with creating a TV program whatsoever. But they do know what they speak of (or act and write from); as opposed to most teens series today with a 40-year old writer going at the script through the eyes of an 18 year old.

Skins managed to last two seasons or about 19 episodes (British series are short).

It will be aired beginning this week on BBC America.

Here are clips to Skins:

Wedding Bells on How I Met Your Mother?

Last season's How I Met Your Mother left us with a cliffhanger. Was Stella gonna say "Yes"? Is Ted and her getting married? Have they really found Mother? Was this even the plan?

Sources say a wedding is going to take place as soon as the show returns; that it is set sometime in October. And Sarah Chalke (Stella) is expected to appear in at least six episodes.

But let's not forget the blossoming love between Barney and Robin. Is it possible, they're the ones getting married?

90210's Newest Promo with Brenda and Kelly

Did you spot how many times more Kelly appeared on this clip than Brenda?

Somewhere in California, Shannen Doherty is probably pissed Jennie Garth got more airtime than her.

Moonlight star will be back!

Well CBS did listen to those clamoring for Moonlight's return to TV.

Somewhat.

Alex O' Loughlin, Moonlight's lead actor, is coming back. Only not as a vampire. That show remains dead. He's starring in a yet unnamed TV show.

According to THR:
The Australian actor has signed a talent holding deal with the network, sister studio CBS Paramount TV and ABC Studios.

Under the one-year pact, O'Loughlin will star in a new series project for CBS that will be developed by top TV producer Mark Gordon, whose ABC Studio-based company is behind such series as ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," Lifetime's "Army Wives" and CBS' "Criminal Minds."
Any guesses to what the new show will be?

Zachary Levi...oh, say can you sing!

The audio to this video isn't even perfect but you can still hear Zachary Levi (Chuck) sing "The Letter". He's quite good, no? Big, solid voice. He even does the dit-dits and the doodahs. Why do I get the feeling there's going to be a Chuck Musical episode after seeing this?

Also in the clip, Adrian Pasdar (Nathan Petrelli) and Jesse Spencer (Dr. Chase). This was from last weekend's Band From TV gig.

This is why I love Jack and Karen! And why TV Junkies will love 'em, too!

These chicks speak my language!!! Here are transcripts and scenes from the episode No Sex And The City on Will and Grace.

[KAREN IS STANDING AT THE WATER COOLER LOOKING AT HER WATCH WHEN JACK ENTERS FROM THE ELEVATOR.]

KAREN: Oh, honey, where have you been? I've been waiting here at the water cooler for us to have our water cooler chat.
JACK: So did you start talking about "Sex and the City" yet?
KAREN: We just started. Oh. Honey, I am so glad that Carrie ended up with Big instead of that 70-year-old ballerina.
JACK: I know. [SIGHS] And when she walked into that coffee shop at the end and the other girl started screaming, I'm not ashamed to say I was crying like a little girl. Well, of course, I was piercing my ears too.
KAREN: [SIGHS] Oh, honey, I'm gonna miss my "Sex and the City"
JACK: Oh. Me too, Karen.
KAREN: But at least I've still got my "Frasier" and my "Friends."
JACK: Well, wait, didn't you hear? "Frasier" and "Friends" are going off the air too.
[KAREN HAULS BACK AND SLAPS JACK ACROSS THE FACE--HARD.]
KAREN: Don't tell me that, Jackie! Not now. Not today.
JACK: Believe me, Karen, I know. It's tragic.
[KAREN SIGHS.]
JACK: I went through some of the biggest changes of my life with those shows. Cargo pants came in, went out, came back in again.
[KAREN NODS.]
JACK: I don't know whether they're in or out, but I bought 32 pairs of them with Will's money so I'm gonna wear 'em.
KAREN: You wanna talk about changes? I went through perhaps the most important milestone of my life: the tiny knapsack.
JACK: Oh, the tiny knapsack. How could a knapsack so tiny hold all my dreams?
KAREN: Oh, Jackie, what are we gonna do? What are we gonna talk about around this water cooler every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning?
JACK: I don't know, Karen. I mean, you hear about when other people lose their shows, but you never think it's gonna happen to you. It makes me sick to think how cruel I was to my own mother when "Barnaby Jones" got cancelled.
KAREN: [SIGHS] You know, when Stan died, I knew just what to do. A few months later, I simply got engaged to someone else. But this is different, Jackie. This is television.
JACK: But, Karen, don't you see? We just have to find a new show. Something that combines the gay sensibility of "Sex and the City," the gay sensibility of "Frasier," and the gay sensibility of "Friends."
KAREN: [GASPS] Oh, honey, you mean like "Magnum, P.I."?
JACK: No, Karen. That show got cancelled years ago.
[KAREN HAULS BACK AND SLAPS JACK ACROSS THE FACE.]

KAREN: [SCOFFS] It's hopeless, Jackie. TV is over!
[KAREN AND JACK STAND UP AND WALK TO THE KITCHEN TO GET A DRINK.]
JACK: Pfff. You're right. There's never gonna be shows like that again. There's never gonna be a funky barka lounger in an immaculate Seattle living room with two brothers, one fussier than the next.
KAREN: Or six friends living together. [IMITATING CHANDLER BING] Could a show be any funnier?
JACK: Or four women sitting around drinking cosmos talking about penises and penis-hers.
KAREN: Jackie, I think you're forgetting about the fifth woman, a lady I like to call Manhattan.
JACK: So what are we gonna do, Karen? [SIGHS] I guess we'll just have to find something else to talk about.
KAREN: Hey. You know, we could go out and have life experiences of our own, then get together later and discuss them. You know, like the people on TV do.
JACK: Right. That's good, Karen. I'll meet you at Central Perk in an hour.
KAREN: Jack, that place is fictitious.
JACK: Okay, two hours.

Fall TV Promos 2008

With only a month or less to go before the Fall Season officially opens (wheee!), let's take a look at what the networks have been running to promote their new season. I couldn't find the one for CBS (do they have?). I'm putting them up in order based on how I like how the promo was done --- ABC, FOX, NBC and CW.

My Boys Season 2 Done?

That was it? All nine episodes? Nine uneven episodes? What has happened to this show's smart meter? Why have the stories been really inconsistent? Did it have something to do with the strike? My problem with it is that I couldn't buy into the "PJ heart Bobby" angle (PJ is the girl in red, Bobby is the one sitting, also in red). Rather, they didn't give the story enough for me to buy the idea. So, I ask again --- that was it?

Oh no, they're not! CBS Brings Hawaii Five-O 2.0

I was about five years old when I first watched Hawaii Five-O in black and white television. Much of what the show is about, I don't even remember. But reading about its impending return brought back memories of me in my grass skirt, learning the Hawaiian dance and dancing to this music:

Makes me kinda glad there was no Youtube during those days. Or else there would have been a different video.

Anyway, the news...

CBS is saying aloha to a new installment of the "Hawaii Five-O" franchise from "Criminal Minds" exec producer/showrunner Ed Bernero.

The new take on the popular crime drama, which aired on CBS from 1968-80, is one of three projects Bernero has in the works, along with "Washington Field," which is being done in cooperation with the FBI, and a fugitive apprehension drama.

Bernero is such a big "Hawaii Five-O" fan that he has the iconic theme song from the show as his ringtone. He said he didn't even hesitate when execs at CBS Par TV, where he has an overall deal, approached him with the idea for a new incarnation of the classic Leonard Freeman cop series.

Bernero is writing the project, which he describes as " 'Hawaii Five-O' 2.0."

Like the original series, it is a procedural chronicling the workings of the fictional Hawaiian state police department. In the original, the unit was headed by Steve McGarrett, played by Jack Lord. In the new series, McGarrett's son Chris will be the top cop.

While the characters, storytelling and pacing will be updated, "we will try to keep as much of the original show as possible," Bernero said. "I'm not trying to reinvent it." | THR

Matthew Bomer on White Collar

ABC Television Network Upfront

A man with a face like this is likely to land another TV project as soon as the next one is done. Cause you know what? He's too gorgeous to be kept away from the limelight. And he's not so bad an actor, either.

Matthew Bomer, last seen on Traveler and is guest appearing on Chuck is going to be seen next on White Collar.

According to THR, the series is...
from Fox TV Studios and writer/executive producer Jeff Eastin, centers on Neal Caffrey (Bomer), a brilliant con artist who, against his will, partners with the head of FBI's white-collar crime unit to solve cases. | THR

Cutthroat Bitch is Pregnant!

Anne Dudek is glowing these days. The woman who played Cutthroat Bitch or Amber on House last season is expecting her first born with husband Matthew Heller. She is on her second tri-mester and is craving for cheese and sleep pretty much.

Of course, her character has been killed on House but you can still watch her on Big Love in January. It's a show about this man with many wives who are always pregnant. And I don't think they're going to hide her baby bump for this. They will be shooting for the new season soon.

Band from TV performed for Netflix last Saturday

I wonder if these guys are ever going to embark on a World Tour? The Band For TV were in LA yesterday for Netflix's Live on Location.

Those who performed were HUGH LAURIE, ZACHARY LEVI, JESSE SPENCER, GREG GRUNBERG, JORGE GARCIA, HAYDEN PANETTIERE, ADRIAN PASDAR, TERI HATCHER and JAMES DENTON. MILO VENTIMIGLIA was in the audience taking videos of the event and played the supportive boyfriend to Hayden.

Watch Beijing Olympics Online

Where does one watch
the Beijing Olympics Online?

Last Comic Standing's Jeff Dye

Am I looking at a potential sitcom star?

Here's Jeff Dye, ladies and gentlemen. He's young and tall, with Ben Affleck good looks and yes.... he's very funny.

I'm not so sure if he wound up winning Last Comic Standing tonight. I have not seen the show yet and I am rooting for Marcus more.

But Jeff? If he isn't going to make it, something tells me I'm going to see him with his own TV show anyway. How can that not happen? Look at this pretty boy. His jokes aren't half bad as well. My 10 year old was watching this with me and of the eight people that performed, he only laughed at Jeff's jokes. (Hint: Jeff appeals to kids!)

Oh, I just read some spoilers and Iliza, the only girl, ended up winning it all. What?? That's wrong. The show is messed up.

TV Round-up: What's new with Sanjaya and why was Luke Perry Arrested?

Dylan McKay arrested! No, that's actually Luke Perry, guest starring in an upcoming Law and Order SVU episode.

Oprah is TV's biggest earner. Whatever happened to Katherine Heigl who was on Forbes' list?

American Idol News: Bo Bice has a new baby boy. David Archuleta has a new single and he sounds really, really good. Sanjaya has a new girlfriend.

News Radio is coming out with a complete DVD boxset. Darn, I still have to complete mine and they come up with this other option.

Laurence Fishburne to replace Petersen on CSI?

Sounds like my kind of TV story: AMC Remakes Copolla's The Conversation

Lisa Kudrow's ex-manager, who probably earns about $1.5M something a year when Lisa had Friends, is suing her for $50,000.

Don't forget, the Beijing Olympics opens tonight at 8PM.

So You Think You Can Dance Final Four Routine - Katee, Joshua, Courtney, Twitch

If I still had the stamina and the body strength; if my right leg hasn't been injured... I think I'd like to do this one when I'm doing my happy dance.

The final four perform a strange "Scottish Olympics" routine that had me doing a standing ovation. Alone. In my room.

Tomorrow, the winner will be known. But not after a 2 hour season finale that promises to be a spectacular. Too bad this show is ending already and I'd have to wait for May next year again.

Mer and Der's McMansion Discovered

Is this the McDreamy Mansion Mer and Der envisioned building in last season's finale? The house overlooking the hills? According to E's Kristin...it looks like it is.

Can you imagine little...uh, McNuggets running around? The house seems to say, "Welcome. Our house is not dark and twisty! Let's go inside and have cookies and milk."

Sports Night Reunion, yay!

Seldom do I tune to Law and Order: SVU. I watch it only when I like the guest. And I read something I really, really liked this morning...which means, I'd be on the lookout for its upcoming episode airing Sept. 30th.

Law and Order: SVU has booked Josh Charles and Teri Polo as guests in an episode.
The duo will play a married couple whose son becomes a suspect in — yep, you guessed it — some kind of grisly sex crime investigation. | EW
It's a reunion for the two of them. They used to play lovers in Aaron Sorkin's defunct series, Sports Night and it would really be good to see them back on TV. Together. Yay!

On Sports Night, they had serious chemistry. Here, watch their scene from that show:

Aww. Watching that made me miss them. I think I'm going to my DVD of Sports Night off the shelf and marathon this!

Hard as I try, can't really be madder about Mad Men

As much as I wanna jump the bandwagon, I still cannot get into all the Mad Men frenzy. It's getting all the Emmy buzz that it might just win Best Drama this year, there must be something good to it, right? So, I tried watching another episode recently, actually forced myself... but like always, I just can't sit and bear watching a full hour. Something about the series is off and because I couldn't stay with the show like I've mentioned many times on this blog, I started doubting how much TV has dumbed me down. How stupid was I to not get this one? Why does Mad Men not interest me?

I got the answer today. In this article.
Adam Simon, a film and television writer and cultural critic, agrees that Mad Men is beautifully executed, but says: "I really can't bear (that) it is so certain that it, and by extension its viewers, are so morally and culturally superior to the characters we're watching — in fact, to the whole era it depicts," he says. "You get to revel in the cool atmosphere while feeling smugly superior to it. Oh, so sexist, so racist, so anti-semitic. So desperately in need of the sexual and cultural revolution waiting round the corner. It feels cheap in that sense, allowing us to pat ourselves on our backs for merely living on the other side of the great awakening."

So, it is official. I am giving up with my wanting to understand the series.
