What's On Friday's TV Schedule Fall 2009?

I now understand why Fridays spell death for TV shows when it's scheduled there. There's nothing on this line-up I really am eager to watch right away!

  • 8:00 Supernanny (ABC), Ghost Whisperer (CBS), Law & Order (NBC), Brothers (FOX)/‘Til Death (FOX), Smallville (CW)
  • 9:00 Ugly Betty (ABC), Medium (CBS), Southland (NBC), Dollhouse (FOX), America’s Next Top Model rerun (CW), Monk (USA)
  • 10:00 20/20 (ABC), Numb3rs (CBS), The Jay Leno Show (NBC), Psych / White Collar (USA)
No wait, lemme correct the statement above...

Alright, White Collar is promising, I will have to check it out pronto. Ditto Brothers, just because it's new though I haven't seen previews and have no idea what it's about.

I am going to save episodes of Southland and Dollhouse for later.

I gave up on Ugly Betty last season.

Guess on Friday nights, I can take a break.

What's On Thursday's TV Schedule Fall 2009?

I used to love Thursday night line-ups from two or three years ago. But when net execs started shaking up this day's schedule, it stop becoming the TV day I look forward to (now it's Mondays & Wednesdays!).
  • 8:00 Flash Forward (ABC), Survivor: Samoa (CBS), SNL: Thursday Update then Community by 10/15 (NBC)/Parks and Recreation (NBC), Bones (FOX), Vampire Diaries (CW)
  • 9:00 Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), CSI (CBS), The Office (NBC)/Community or 30 Rock (NBC), Fringe (FOX), Supernatural (CW)
  • 10:00 Private Practice (ABC), The Mentalist (CBS), The Jay Leno Show (NBC), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX)
I am excited over: Flash Forward.

I am glad it's back: The Mentalist... and with a new character to boot, yeah?

I am curious to see PB & J's wedding on The Office.

I have already stopped watching Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice altogether and I think I'll check out Fringe now and then, not necessarily gonna tune to it weekly.

I wish I could already finish the back episodes for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia so I could catch up. Obviously I can't do that right now...

What's On Wednesday's TV Schedule Fall 2009?

Why is this day so busy?? It's going to be a full house every Wednesday nights, with plenty of the comedies (funny!) and young adult shows (fun!).
  • 8:00 Hank (ABC)/The Middle (ABC), The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS)/Gary UnMarried (CBS), Mercy (NBC), So You Think You Can Dance (FOX), America’s Next Top Model (CW)
  • 9:00 Modern Family (ABC)/Cougartown (ABC), Criminal Minds (CBS), Law & Order: SVU (NBC), Glee (FOX), The Beautiful Life: TBL (CW), Ghost Hunters (Syfy)
  • 10:00 Eastwick (ABC), CSI: NY (CBS), The Jay Leno Show (NBC), Nip/Tuck (FX)

Aside from SYTYCD's results night, Gary Unmarried is the other returning show I'm watching. Glee, The Beautiful Life and Cougar Town are the new ones I am really looking forward to seeing, I'm very excited for the three.

I'm gonna have to check out the fresh ones, of course ---
  • Hank - starring Kelsey Grammer. I'd always root for this guy even if he's in crappy shows
  • Mercy - hospital drama. Potentially another Grey's Anatomy. Ugh
  • The Middle - forgot who is in this one, Patty Heaton? The show they say is similar to Malcolm in the Middle, yeah?
  • Modern Family - like Brothers & Sisters, only a comedy.
  • Eastwick - this feels like Charmed, with older Halliwell girls.
It's Modern Family I'm liking best from these five new ones.

What's On Tuesday's TV Schedule Fall 2009?

Tuesday is rest day... judging by the number of shows that do not interest me. This works out well for me because the Wednesdays are going to be crraaaazy!

Below is Tuesday's schedule:

  • 8:00 V (ABC 11/3), NCIS (CBS), The Biggest Loser (NBC), So You Think You Can Dance (FOX), 90210 (CW)
  • 9:00 Dancing with the Stars (ABC), NCIS: LA (CBS), The Biggest Loser (NBC), So You Think You Can Dance (FOX), Melrose Place (CW)
  • 10:00 The Forgotten (ABC), The Good Wife (CBS), The Jay Leno Show (NBC), Sons of Anarchy (FX)

So You Think You Can Dance....dance....dance... it's the only show I'm excited about! Love that they're back another season and not just for a short time during the summers.

I'm going to check out The Good Wife with Juliana Margulies because it's new. I forgot...she plays a lawyer here, right? After being set back as a housewife, she comes back to work, right? Gotta check out teasers again.

The Forgotten is also worth checking out because it's new but I know I will get tired of it easily. It's from Jerry Bruckheimer. Yep, procedural. Yep, crime show. About unidentified victims.

I would have wanted to see Sons of Anarchy, but I skipped Season 1. I hear the cool factor on this show has gone high up so am putting this under my watch-sometime-in-the-future column.

What's On Monday's TV Schedule Fall 2009?

Lists -- am a huge fan. I go geek over it. The list I look forward to the most? Fall Season TV! I'll chronicle is this year's schedule beginning with Monday.

I honestly am equally excited and unprepared for the new season. Excited, because, of course what else? --- New shows to follow. Unprepared, because I haven't been watching TV in a while and am finding my way back into a new routine, my couch is about to get warm. (Hey, I checked all the other TV blogs I used to visit...what happened? Most of them stopped writing about what they're watching almost the same time as I did! A virus must have hit all of us somewhere...).

Anyway, here's what's on Mondays:

  • 8:00: Dancing With the Stars (ABC), How I Met Your Mother (CBS)/Accidentally on Purpose (CBS), Heroes (NBC), House (FOX), One Tree Hill (CW), Lincoln Heights (ABC Family)
  • 9:00 Dancing With the Stars (ABC), Two and a Half Men (CBS)/The Big Bang Theory (CBS), Trauma (NBC), Lie to Me (FOX), Gossip Girl (CW), Greek (ABC Family)
  • 10:00 Castle (ABC), CSI: Miami (CBS), The Jay Leno Show (NBC)

HIMYM and Big Bang Theory are going to be my regulars. I am excited for BBT most especially as the show is gaining a following from the mainstream audience and the critics. Probably the best comedy show there is now.

House is still on my list. But after last season's disappointments, I am not sure I'm going to look forward to it weekly. It's the same with Castle. Nathan Fillion rocks, but the show is probably gonna get a lukewarm reception in our household.

Am gonna check out Greek now and then, because it's campy fun no matter when I watch it.

I am probably going to watch Lie to Me but I bet I will be skipping some parts and won't be missing it that much.

I will be checking out Trauma because it's new.

LEVERAGE (TNT) Premiere: 12/7/08 at 10:00 PM Schedule: Tuesdays 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST TNT has given the greenlight to the thrilling, action-packed drama series LEVERAGE, starring Oscar® winner Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People, Nero Wolfe) and executive-produced by Dean Devlin (Independence Day, TNT’s The Librarian) and John Rogers (Cosby). The series follows a team of thieves, hackers and grifters who act as modern-day Robin Hoods, taking revenge against those who use power and wealth to victimize others. TNT has ordered 13 episodes of LEVERAGE, which comes to the network from Devlin’s Electric Entertainment. Devlin makes his directorial debut on the pilot, which was written by Rogers (Transformers) and Chris Downey (The King of leverage_01_512x341Queens). LEVERAGE is slated to premiere on TNT later this year. “LEVERAGE is great entertainment,” said Michael Wright, senior vice president in charge of the content creation group for TNT, TBS and TCM. “It’s fast-paced, smart and just great fun. Dean Devlin directed the pilot to perfection. Timothy Hutton is outstanding, and he and the cast around him have a great chemistry. This is a new genre for us in our series efforts, and it’s great to be able to tackle it with Dean. His Librarian movies for TNT have been huge successes. We couldn’t be happier having him and John Rogers bring that same sense of style and storytelling to us in series form.” In LEVERAGE, Hutton plays former insurance investigator Nate Ford, a once-loyal corporate employee who had recovered millions of dollars in stolen goods for his employer. But when that employer denied his son’s insurance claims and allowed the boy to die, he realized he could no longer work for such an entity. Out of work and descending into alcoholism, Ford is hired by an aeronautics executive to recover airplane designs the executive claims were stolen by a rival company. Helping him are four highly skilled team members: Parker (Beth Riesgraf – Alvin and the Chipmunks), an expert thief; Alec Hardison (Aldis Hodge – Friday Night Lights), a specialist in Internet and computer fraud; Eliot Spencer (Christian Kane – Into the West), a high-octane “retrieval specialist” who can take out a gang of henchmen without breaking a sweat; and Sophie Devereaux (Gina Bellman – Coupling), a grifter who could win awards for her acting skills during difficult scams. At first the newly formed team is hesitant to trust each other after so many years working alone but being double-crossed changes the dynamic, ultimately forcing them to unite. They emerge from the job realizing they are far better working together than apart. Once they discover they can trust each other the group targets their cons toward the richest, the greediest and the most unjust.

Ultimately, the series poses the question: Who is really the most important woman in every man's life? In "Momma's Boys," love is in the air, but the story is told from a new television perspective because first, the women will have to get by Mom. Drama ensues when numerous mothers and their eligible bachelor sons are housed together with several single women. As the tension mounts, viewers will watch as possessive mothers influence their sons' search for the perfect mate. Some of the possible brides are "nice girls" while others might not be as presentable. As expected, rivalries are formed, drama mounts and emotion builds as crucial choices are made.

LIE TO ME is scheduled to premiere midseason. When you scratch your chin, wring your hands, wrinkle your nose or swallow too much, Dr. Cal Lightman (Roth) knows you're lying. He doesn't just think so he knows so. As the foremost deception expert in the country, Dr. Lightman can uncover the deepest secrets and crack the hardest cases. More accurate than any polygraph, he knows whether those in front of him be they family, friends, criminals or complete strangers are honest or not. Dr. Lightman heads up The Lightman Group, a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations and private individuals when they hit roadblocks in their searches for the truth. Joining him at the agency are a variety of experts in the field of behavioral evaluation: Dr. Gillian Foster (Williams) is a gifted psychologist and Lightman's professional partner, a woman whose guidance he needs whether he knows it or not; Will Loker (Brendan Hines) is Lightman's lead researcher who practices "radical honesty" at all times; and Ria Torres (Monica Raymund) is the newest member of the team, selected for her innate ability to read body language and catch certain clues that her colleagues may miss.

TRUE BEAUTY (ABC) Premiere: 1/5/09 at 10:00 PM Schedule: Mondays 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST What makes a person truly beautiful? Executive producers Tyra Banks ("The Tyra Banks Show," "America's Next Top Model") and Ashton Kutcher (executive producer of "Punk'd" and "Beauty and the Geek") re-define the concept of beauty in a wildly revealing new ABC series, "True Beauty," premiering, MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 2009 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Hosted and judged by Vanessa Minnillo (former host of "TRL" and "ET"), along with judges Cheryl Tiegs (America's first supermodel, currently designer and author) and Nol Marin ("America's Next Top Model" and fashion expert for E!, TV Guide, "The Tyra Banks Show"), the series will determine the "True Beauty" of six stunning females and four handsome males who will live together in a spectacular Los Angeles mansion as they undergo a series of challenges to determine who is truly the most beautiful. The gorgeous contestants assume they're being judged solely on their outer appearance. They're only half right; outer beauty is one component the judges are looking for, but contestants are also being evaluated -- unbeknownst to them -- for their INNER beauty as well when they're put through scenarios and situations that require them to make moral decisions. Each episode will showcase an outer beauty and an inner beauty challenge, during which contestants will be judged on everything from how well they perform in photo shoots to how well they respect their elders. The three judges will observe and critique the contestants' behavior and eliminate one person each week. Only after someone is eliminated will the truth about the show be revealed to him/her, as they watch a video montage of their behavior captured by a hidden camera during the shoot. At the end of eight episodes, one winner will be declared, a person who is truly beautiful inside and out. That person will receive a cash prize and a spot in PEOPLE magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People issue.

DOLLHOUSE (FOX) Premiere: 2/13/09 at 9:00 PM Schedule: Fridays from 9:00 PM-10:00 PM EST Joss Whedon, creator of groundbreaking cult favorites "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly," returns to television and reunites with fellow "Buffy" alumna Eliza Dushku for a thrilling new drama, DOLLHOUSE. ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Confined to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other Actives including SIERRA (Dichen Lachman, "Neighbours") and VICTOR (Enver Gjokaj, "The Unit") carry out engagements assigned by ADELLE (Olivia Williams, "X-Men: The Last Stand," "Rushmore"), one of the Dollhouse leaders. The engagements cater to the wealthy, powerful and connected, and require the Actives to immerse themselves in all manner of scenarios romantic, criminal, uplifting, dangerous, comical and the occasional "pro bono" good deed. After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler BOYD (Harry Lennix, "Commander in Chief," 24), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings and experiences are erased by TOPHER (Fran Kranz, "Welcome to the Captain"), the Dollhouse's genius programmer. As the series progresses, FBI Agent PAUL SMITH (Tahmoh Penikett, "Battlestar Galactica") pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past. DOLLHOUSE revolves around Echo's blossoming self-awareness and her desire to discover her true identity. But with each new engagement, comes a new memory and increased danger inside and outside the Dollhouse.

MARCH

CASTLE (ABC) Premiere: 3/9/2009 10:00 PM Schedule: Monday from 10:00 PM-9:00 PM EST Wildly famous mystery novelist Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion, "Desperate Housewives"), who is bored with his own success, learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murder scenes depicted in his novels. Rick is soon questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic, "The Spirit"), a very bright, aggressive detective who keeps her investigations under tight rein. Rick and Kate's styles instantly clash, yet sparks begin to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle steps in to help find the killer. And once that case is solved, he and Beckett build upon their new relationship as they look to solve strange homicides in New York as much fun as one can have with death & murder. Castle is kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother, Martha Rodgers (Susan Sullivan, "Dharma and Greg") and quick-witted teenage daughter Alexis (Molly Quinn, "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story").

CUPID (ABC) Premiere: 3/24/2009 10:00 PM Schedule: Tuesdays from 10:00 PM-9:00 PM EST Like any big city, New York has its share of characters. But the newest one isn't like the rest. For starters, his goal in life is to help people fall in love, which isn't such a bad thing. But he says he must create 100 happily-ever-afters in order to return to his home—Mount Olympus. Because he's Cupid, the ancient Roman god of love. Duh. He claims being punished by the other Gods for the modern world's sorry state of love, and was sent to Earth without his famed bow and arrow, to rediscover what really makes love work. As fate would have it, Cupid, sometimes known as Trevor Hale, is under the care of famous psychologist and self-help author Dr. Claire Allen. Even though Claire disagrees with Trevor's methods, she can't argue with the sentiment, since she too is dedicated to helping lonely hearts find their soul mates. But these two experts in love couldn't be more different: he believes love blooms fast and carnal and passionate, while she thinks it grows slowly, moderately and sensibly. While he busies himself making matches, she endeavors to figure out who Trevor really is. Is he a man who's losing his mind after the loss of his one true love? Is he really crazy? Or (gulp) is he really Cupid? From writer-creator Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars) comes a re-imagining of his 1998 cult favorite series of the same name. Bobby Cannavale stars in this romantic-comedy procedural that will match up a new loving couple each week, though romance may not always bloom quite where we expect it to. This warm, witty series is a charming reminder that even though true love may be madness… it's the only thing keeping us sane.

KINGS (NBC) Premiere: 3/19/2009 10:00 PM Schedule: Thursdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST Kings" is the story of David Shepherd, an idealistic soldier who is thrust into the heart of power by one act of heroism. After single-handedly defeating the enemies of his people, David is rewarded by being brought into the court of King Silas, monarch of the modern nation of Gilboa. David is initially dazzled by the pageantry and glamour of life among the royals, only to learn that the palace is teeming with deception. The young hero soon becomes a target for the deadly schemes of those vying for control of the kingdom. But he finds support from a beautiful princess, the king's own daughter... and their forbidden romance will launch David on a daring path to adventure. As the line between friends and enemies blurs, David must survive the treacherous corridors of power and forge a new destiny that will forever change the world. "Kings" takes place in a modern-day kingdom named Gilboa, and its shining metropolitan capital of Shiloh. It is ruled by King Benjamin Silas, the nation’s much-loved monarch, who unified several warring territories to found Gilboa many years ago. They have since built a proud and prosperous nation. While not a perfect society, the kingdom is a beacon of hope and idealism. But the dark clouds of war continue to rumble in the north, where the forces of enemy nation Gath are massing to invade, and threaten to destroy all that King Silas has created... That is, until a young soldier named David slays a fearsome Goliath tank, rallying the nation... and turning the tide of history.

APRIL

THE UNUSUALS (ABC) Premiere: 4/08/09 at 8:00 PM Schedule: Wednesdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST As a cop, it helps to have a twisted sense of humor—because every moment could be your last. Just ask Casey Shraeger. She started her day as an NYPD vice detective posing as a Lincoln Tunnel hooker before unexpectedly being transferred to the homicide division. Casey quickly realizes that not only does everyone in her new department have a distinct sense of humor but everyone also has their own dirty little secret… Sgt. Brown is lusting after Detective Beaumont. Detective Delahoy is nursing a brain tumor and trying to die a noble death in the line of duty. His partner Detective Banks just turned 52 and fears that, like his father, he won't make it to 53. Detective Cole is deeply religious but has a shady past. And although Casey's new partner, Detective Walsh, appears to be clean, while investigating the murder of his former partner, Casey uncovers evidence that suggests that even Walsh may have a secret or two. Casey has a secret of her own. She grew up wealthy and privileged in New York high society and became a cop because she saw first hand how money can buy justice. As she learns from the precinct's mysterious and seldom-seen Lt. Little, Casey was brought to the homicide division because she's one of the few honest cops in the district. And with her help, Lt. Little plans to start cleaning house. Equal parts NYPD Blue and The Office, The Unusuals is a unique comedic procedural whose realistic setting makes the frequent laughs that much more outrageous. Writer Noah Hawley (a producer on Bones) confidently takes the police procedural into fresh, uncharted waters. Stephen Hopkins (24, Californication) directs.

HARPER'S ISLAND (CBS) Premiere: 4/9/09 10:00 PM Schedule: Thursdays from 10:00 PM-11:00 PM EST HARPER'S ISLAND is about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island for a destination wedding. They've come to laugh... to love... and, though they don't know it... to die. As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival. In every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect, from the wedding party to the island locals. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.

THE GOODE FAMILY (ABC) Premiere: Schedule: Wednesdays from 8:30 PM-9:00 PM EST A new animated series from Mike Judge, creator of "King of the Hill." "The Goode Family" is obsessed with doing the "right" thing, whether it's environmentally, politically or socially. Unfortunately their efforts often have unintended comic consequences. "The Goode Family" is voiced by Mike Judge as Gerald, Nancy Carell as Helen, Dave Herman as Ubuntu and Abby Elliot as Bliss. Executive producers for "The Goode Family" are Mike Judge, David Krinsky, John Altschuler, Michael Rotenberg and Tom Lassally. The series is produced by MRC and 3 Arts Entertainment.

What I'm watching on Tireless Thursdays

It's a good thing there's a presidential debate on today. Normally, I'd be disappointed because a few of my favorites are pre-empted. But I welcome that break. Especially since I haven't had the chance to finish most of Wednesday night's shows. I've been sidetrack by work and household chores.

Thursdays are usually all about The Office, then some Grey's Anatomy but instead we're getting politics tonight. But there are new episodes of Ugly Betty and (I think, not sure) Survivor Gabon. Now these, I can watch sometime during the weekend. And yes, I've gone back to watching Survivor, after giving up the last 8 seasons.

Next week though, three new shows will premiere --- the re-vamped Life on Mars, Kath and Kim and the Eleventh Hour. I'm curious about the last one.

And then of course, 30 Rock comes back at the end of the month. Wheee!

02 October 2008

What I'm watching on Wacky Wednesdays

Yesterday's list of TV I'm watching left me with one backlog - The Mentalist. I'm not sure if I can squeeze that in tonight. It's a matter of priorities, I guess.

Wednesdays bring back one of my best-loved TV series, Pushing Daisies. Like everyone else, I have been hungry for new stories from this show and based on the teasers, I know it's going to be a great year.

Also returning for their second seasons are Private Practice and Dirty Sexy Money. I did not enjoy Private Practice last year, so hope the retooling will do wonders. And DSM is quite the underrated TV show...looking forward to this one, as well.

I am not missing Lipstick Jungle episodes, no way. I've started to really love this show.

I'll give Gary Unmarried another try. It may be a nice break from all the drama I'm supposed to be watching tonight.

I am not sure if I should give up on Knight Rider just yet. Should I?

Sons of Anarchy I have this on the pile but have not taken a peek yet. I'm waiting for the full season to run before watching anything.

What I'm watching on Tepid Tuesdays

Not yet done with Monday's viewing list, here comes Tuesday's batch of new episodes. At least I've only got a few tune-ins, which means I can get caught up with the backlogs from yesterday...then again maybe not.

I've got House and Fringe today. Privileged and Greek, I watch them over the weekend or when my schedule is free for the week. The Shield, I'll watch everything in one seating. I'm still thinking if I should check out The Mentalist again. It did really, really well when it premiered last week. The only thing missing? Eli Stone, which doesn't premiere until the 14th.

I'd like to say Tuesdays are manageable. But these are one hour shows. And some of them are quite heavy to take on the brain; it requires my thought process going.

So there, brain mush still. Weee.

30 September 2008

What I'm watching on Manic Mondays

Monday, it seems, is going to be my busiest TV night. I started with the new seasons of Heroes, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Worst Week last week.

I'm adding Chuck and Life today, as these two shows begin their new seasons this week.

The last of Monday's show premieres will be Samantha Who? and My Own Worst Enemy (which will both start in early to mid-October). I enjoyed SW last season, so there's no reason for me not to come back to it this season. And I'm not sure I will like MOWE, but I'm curious how the Christian Slater starrer will fare.

Gotta have some heavy rescheduling to do!

How long will it be before I go brain dead?

27 August 2008

My TV is officially back!

And what this means is... it would be harder for anyone to pry me away from the screen! It also means more eyesore. It also means less sleep. It also means --- I'm really, really, really happy!!!

Australian Idol's sixth season just premiered. Although I can't watch the first three episodes until my husband returns from an OT trip next week. Bleh.

I will, instead, watch new episodes of Greek later.

Early next week, The Shield premieres its last season. But again, can't watch it till the hubs is back. So, in place of that, I will check out the first episode of 90210 and see if it's worth keeping on my list.

I'll also check out Samurai Girl because I love women who can handle swords; and Sons of Anarchy because I love how crazy the word "anarchy" sounds. I can sense this show is going to be butch. (Haven't read any synopsis or what).

For the rest of the schedule this fall season, look up my blog since I've provided a link to the calendar. Or click this.

NBC Unveils 2008-2009 TV Schedule

There's a very long new list for NBC for next season but I am very excited about a lot of what they have to offer:

THE NEW
  • MY OWN WORST ENEMY - starring Christian Slater. Not a fan of his. This one's a rehashed plot, but we'll see... - Edward Albright is an operative who speaks 13 languages, runs a four-minute mile, and is trained to kill with his teeth. Henry and Edward are polar opposites who share only one thing in common -- the same body. When the carefully constructed wall between them breaks down, Henry and Edward are thrust into unfamiliar territory where each man is dangerously out of his element. "My Own Worst Enemy" explores the duality of a man who is literally pitted against himself. And it raises the question: who can you trust when you can't trust yourself?
  • KNIGHT RIDER - They are now trying to make changes to it and they are sprucing up. Which is great since I enjoyed the backdoor pilot. Anything to make it better? Sounds better!
  • CRUSOE - no cast announcements yet but it's described as --- equal parts "MacGyver," "Castaway" and "Pirates of the Caribbean"
  • KINGS with Ian McShane, a David and Goliath saga. Wow. With Ian McShane leading the cast...I'm expecting a lot of intensity.
  • MERLIN. It will be told 21st century style. Interesting...
  • THE PHILANTROPIST - I'm not so eager for this one, because, based just on the premise, I think it's been done before. But I do wanna know how they approach this story and make it fresh and original - Teddy Rist loves women, money and power. After the tragic death of his only child, Teddy has an awakening and becomes the world's first vigilante philanthropist -- a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need. He'll do anything to achieve his goals -- bargain with the self-righteous, trade with the nefarious and even tell the truth. Instead of spending $25,000 a plate at a fundraiser, he's dodging bullets in third-world countries to hand-deliver vaccine.
  • THE LISTENER - I was thinking they make this one into a comedy series instead, and not take the serious route, no? - In this one-hour drama, Toby Logan (Craig Olejnik, "The Runaway") is a 24-year-old paramedic living with a secret: he can read people's minds. This telepathic procedural takes viewers into the heart of a tortured hero who struggles to solve crimes with his unique gift
  • KATH & KIM starring Molly Shannon. Molly Shannon! I'm so watching this.
THE GOOD
  • Chuck S2 and Heroes S3 are scheduled back to back on Mondays.
  • Lipstick Jungle S2 is up on Wednesday evenings.
  • Friday Night Lights S3 is still alive.
THE BAD
  • No more SCRUBS! I'm hurt. But not so hurt since it's moving to another channel (ABC).
  • Life S2 is moved to the Friday slot, which could kill the show.
These schedules are subject to change. We're going to find out what the other networks have for us TV junkies in six weeks time.

Wondering when your favorite shows go back on air?
It all begins this week!

10 February 2008

Strike Watch: Pending votes, the strike is deemed OVER.

TV Junkies everywhere can start celebrating. A resolution to the strike has been reached, and pending votes, which should take place in the next 48 hours, the 3-month long strike is already over.
"There was cheering for everything and standing ovation after standing ovation for all the leadership, especially Patric Verrone and Dave Young. There is no question in my mind that because of the atmosphere in that room this strike will be called off. There is no gearing for a fight. It's over."

WGAW President Patric Verrone announced that there would be a vote of the membership over the next 48 hours on whether or not to lift the strike. Presumably this vote will be done electronically. I'm told that Verrone said specifically that the decision to call off the strike, regardless of the WGA Negotiating Committee's or the WGAW Board's or WGAE Council's recommendation, was to be in the hands of the membership. Pending that outcome, the 10-day ballotting process for members to accept the tentative deal would begin. So Hollywood may get back to work by Wednesday. | Deadline Hollywood

There are some kinks to iron out, mostly about legalities of the contract. But essentially, the fat lady sang. And it was a beautiful. :)
