Worst Week's Erinn Hayes

Watched Worst Week's latest episode this week and I have been trying to figure something out since the pilot episode...who does this actress look like?

I checked her profile on IMDb and I do not remember seeing her on some of the shows she's done like Shark and Unhitched, which I've seen. Granted, I vaguely remember these shows now.

Anyway, it's taken me awhile to figure it out until tonight. Erinn Hayes looks like Jorga Fox of CSI!

And if I had scrolled down Erinn's IMDb page the last time, I would've learned she actually did appear on CSI as a murder victim who looked a lot like Sara Sidle.

Monday Marvels

Not feeling quite chatty today. I went through Monday night's line-up quietly. I wanted to write losta things about how fantastic Monday's comedy is but I hesitated (read: I'm too lazy to do it). I know what's wrong with me. But I'll spare you the personal details. Coz, you know... it's ick-y.

Anyway. Marvelous Monday nights ---

• Penny becomes addicted to online gaming in the Big Bang Theory. How I thought this show was too corny the very first time is beyond me. BBT is probably one of the smartest comedies. And you know what? There aren't a lot of 'em on TV now!
• Ted lists the reasons why he loves New York over New Jersey in How I Met Your Mother. And I think I know one of the reasons why Stella isn't Mother. Oh, and Robin is moving to Japan. What is going on?
  
• Sam's still having his worst luck on the Worst Week. They've introduced a third or fourth sibling. My god, how many brothers and sisters does Sam's girlfriend have? I crack up a lot when I'm watching this show but the jokes are mostly stupid. Between BBT and WW, my IQ points fluctuate.
• Bryce is back on Chuck!!!!!!!!!! Yum. Also, it is official --- Chuck is James Bond now.
• I have yet to break-up with (breakaway from) Grey's Anatomy and it seems I'm also going to do the same for Heroes. Can they do a Sylar spinoff instead? Mohinder = eeeeeeewwww!

Worst Week S1 E2 - The Bird

Okay I think I found my preferred new comedy series. I am hooked. I have blogged about it here and said I'd see where this goes. It didn't take too long, did it?

Yes, I am having so much fun with Worst Week. The second episode just got better.

After meeting the parents, it was time for Sam to meet the siblings and of course, it didn't turn well for the unluckiest man in the world.

It still feels a lot like Meet The Parents though...which is fine, I guess. I had no problem with that movie.

Favorite quote:

Sam: I had a (live) bird in my pocket...there was an erection misunderstanding, so I punched it in the face and killed it.

The bird was for Sam's girlfriend's dad. He secretly wanted to replace the one he killed (thus keeping it where no one will find it --- his pocket!

The "erection" happened when he walked by his girlfriend's sister breast-feeding and the bird was moving near his crotch!

Fun. Fun. Funny!!!

Worst Week S1 E1 - Pilot

I have no familiarity with the two lead actors on Worst Week (except... the girl looks awfully familiar! Where have I seen her?). This sometimes works out for the better because I can set no expectations whatsover from actors I know little about.

However, I've seen the British version of this recently. The reason I checked that out was precisely because I wanted a comparison. But from the onset, the two sitcoms are very much different.

The closest I can describe this show so that you'd have an idea of what it is about? This is Meet the Parents, for Television.

Yes, the lead guy (Sam, played by Kyle Bornheimer) gets into trouble a whoooooole lot just to make the parents of his future bride love him. Which means --- you see everything that can potentially go wrong coming a mile away.

To its credit, Sam is a bit likeable and this pilot episode is tons funny, even as it resorted to slapstick comedy and toilet humor --- Sam pees on the goose his future mother-in-law prepared for dinner...future dad-in-law slips on his pee and gets a concussion --- those kinds of things.

I just wonder how long before this pattern gets repetitive and how will the show be able to maintain the premise.

I mean, Sam isn't the unluckiest person on earth, is he? He's not having the worst week, every week?

Watching or ditching?? I'm going to see how it goes in a few more episodes...

WORST WEEK is a comedy about Sam Briggs, an entertainment magazine editor who will do anything to please his girlfriend's parents ... but instead becomes a one-man wrecking crew whenever he's around them.

Sam (Kyle Bornheimer, "Jericho") and his girlfriend, Melanie Clayton (Erinn Hayes, "Kitchen Confidential"), have only one hurdle left to clear as they start their life together: breaking the news to Mel's conservative parents that they have a wedding in the works and a baby on the way. Dick (Kurtwood Smith, "That '70s Show"), a stern Judge, and his wife Angela (Nancy Lenehan, "My Name is Earl"), are protective of their daughter, and are really trying to let go of the anger they feel toward Sam ... after all, disaster follows whenever he visits their house.

But despite his best efforts, every time Sam takes one positive step forward in winning over his future in-laws, he inevitably takes two crushing steps back. But with support and love from Melanie who stands up for him despite his knack for making himself look bad, Sam will hopefully charm his way into her family.

Worst Week comes Mondays 9:30 CBS.
