Please Don't Let Your Grandmas Sing This!

Let me just say first of all that Liza Minnelli earned my admiration when I saw her mentor kids from last season's Australian Idol. She is beyond awe-inspiring and performed the famous Cabaret number like the total pro that she is. I'm not a fan but after watching her, I have no doubt she is one of the greatest performers of our time.

That being said...not all great performers can be great at everything. Liza Minnelli is a Broadway legend. However, she isn't ever, ever gonna cut it singing this:

You know what this sounds like? Somebody's grandmother singing in the shower, with the water too cold. Or somebody handing out the microphone to grandma at the wedding, when grandma had too much drink to care.

This is from the Sex and City 2 Movie soundtrack. I think Liza is going to be in the movie, doing this bit with the other four women.

Whatever possessed anyone to think this was a good idea?

Do you like what you're hearing?

Sex and the City Sequel talks and SJP's new TV show

Hey guess what? The second Sex and the City movie looks to be moving along. That's the buzz this week at the annual TCA conference (Television Critics).
According to HBO’s top execs, there’s “enormous interest” by Warner Bros and New Line studios to do another Sex and the City movie, says Michael Lombardo, HBO’s programming group and West Coast operations president. “They’re trying with our help to put that together now. When that happens, how long between, can’t say. But there’s absolutely interest. I think everybody associated with that project was really heartened by the enthusiasm from the fans, and by the new fans to the show.” Not to mention the blockbuster box office. |TV Guide

Now what, I wonder, will this movie be all about when they've covered every kind of relationship problems the last gazillion years? Little voice in my head is screaming --- "It's gonna be about merchandising, woman!" I think that little voice is right.

Would you want another SATC movie? Or would you rather see Sarah Jessica in this new project? SJP is producing a new TV show for HBO based on the book, The Washingtonienne.

The story in a nutshell (from Amazon):
Cutler, the lowly Senate staffer who rocked the Capital last year with her salacious online diary, rehashes her ride into infamy in a tart, shallow tell-all that begs off as fiction. Smart but spoiled Jacqueline heads for the Hill after a broken engagement in New York. Soon this party girl is cavorting through the Capitol, where shameless flirting and sex appeal take her a long way. In Jacqueline's opinion, government is "Hollywood for the Ugly," and she coasts on her looks to score a fluffy job in a senator's office and effortlessly entice politicos on the prowl. She mines her dizzying array of casual sexploits, dished in callous, raunchy detail, for a blog to keep her friends in the loop ("I was a bitchy slut and so were all of my friends. Why not put it out there?"). Jacqueline winds up on D.C. gossip site Blogette—prompting her abrupt dismissal, an underdeveloped bit of soul-searching and lots of media attention. The flimsy garb of fiction makes for one coy striptease: just how much of Jessica emerges in Jacqueline? Who are the real-life counterparts to her paramours?
But the report doesn't say if SJP is going to star in it, though she has signed on as the show's producer.

Sex and the City The Movie

I've finally seen the girls' movie...

Long, long movie.
Felt like four TV episodes.

Fun, if you're a fan.
I cried. I was touched.

Did not expect it to be a cinematic masterpiece.
But where were all those witty retorts? Writing was a bit dull.

The girls, except for one (Charlotte), changed a lot in four years...
...Miranda got angrier.
...Samantha didn't get any.
...Carrie acted 22.

Big is a bad man. Bad, bad man.
He deserved the bouquet beating.
(I've always been on Team Aidan.)

My mid-day felt so girlie, I think am gonna go and watch lots of Futurama now.

No Sex

I'm probably the only girl in the block who has not seen this. And apparently it toppled down Indiana Jones in the number 1 spot at the box office! I would never have thought...Indy geeks lost to SATC chicks!

While girls/women were watching this last weekend, I had been watching Sister Act and Babe on DVD with kids who weren't born before these films came out. Sidelight: I was showing my son and nephews what kind of movies we enjoyed back then, starting with the 90's. We're going through 80's movies next. I was thinking of showing them Zapped and Weekend at Bernie's....but I don't wanna be the aunt who pollutes their minds, so I'm left with family movies. Any suggestions? We're going with Goonies and Never Ending Story first.

Back to SATC....so I haven't seen it. But I still had my fair share of SATC entertainment on the internet:

Not in a hurry to line-up for this one, really.

It took me years to get over Carrie and Aidan... meaning, I was pretty much stuck watching the show when Aidan broke up with her. I dreaded the 5th and 6th season. Took me awhile to finish the series. And by then, I was already very tired of Carrie's constant search for true love...and the show's obsession for material things. Ugh, that I really hated.

Sex and the City Movie Shocker: Someone Dies!

You've probably seen the movie trailer now and know that something happens even before Carrie's wedding.

This site is saying Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) revealed someone is dying in the movie...she didn't say who but it may have to be Mr. Big.
Loose-lipped Cynthia Nixon has confirmed that a character in the movie (which is released in six weeks. Six weeks!), gulp, dies. Obviously, Cynthia isn’t so gobby that she’s let slip who that character might be, but there’s mucho speculation that it could be Big who pegs it – mainly because of his heart problems in the TV show, and the fact that we already know there’s a huge question mark over his wedding to Carrie.

No happily ever after?

Could the one dying be...the Sex and the City franchise itself?

Helloooo Lovers of SATC. Longer trailer out!

  • Carrie is getting married to John James Preston aka MR. BIG, but something happens before the ceremony and it looks like the wedding didn't push through.
  • Seems Steve cheated on Miranda.
  • Charlotte adopted a beautiful Asian child. And is on the family way.
  • Samantha is still Samantha, still after younger men.

Click on the photo to be redirected to the link. Hurry though, the trailer vids are easily asked to be deleted and taken down by the studio.
